1. Davos Lake Tour

A great itinerary for people looking to avoid elevation, with a mixture of city and nature, and great views!

Get to the lake by first taking a train or bus to Davos Dorf, and then a short walk to the lake. Walk around the lake. This offers great views of the valley. Come back by walking through Davos, or take again the public transport.

Itinerary
  1. Morosani Schweizerhof to Davosersee
    • Walk through Davos, 45 min
    • With public transport, 25 min (google maps), fare incl. in Premium Card
  2. Walk around the lake, 55 min (GPX file)
  3. Get back to Morosani Schweizerhof

2. Kirchner Museum Guided Tour

The Kirchner Museum Davos features art exhibitions in changing rotations. Kirchner was a leader of the German Expressionism. We arranged a guided tour. Signup required (link).

Itinerary
  • You can walk to the Museum (google maps). It is a short 10 min walk from the Morsani Schweizerhof.
  • Tour begins at 16:45, be there a few minutes before.
  • Cost around 12 CHF

3. Aquatic Centre Eau-là-là

The Aquatic Centre Eau-là-là has a pool and a wellness area. Their web page explains well the different facilities and opening hours. Travel time 7 min by bus, 15 min by foot. google maps

4. Schatzalp & Strela Alp Restaurant

The entry-level Swiss mountain experience!

Get up to Schatzalp using the funicular railway. From there, you can enjoy views 300 m above the valley floor. There is a hotel and a restaurant that serves all kinds of foods and drinks.

We recommend taking the short walk to the Strela Alp mountain restaurant (0.5 km), where you can also buy drinks and foods, with even nicer views and a cozy atmosphere!

It is further possible to do short round-trip hiking excursions around the area.

Itinerary
  1. Take the Schatzalpbahn funicular railway (here), a short 5 min walk from the Morosani Schweizerhof
    • Tickets: 10 CHF round trip with Premium Card, buy directly at the station
    • Timetable: every 15 min1 (link)
  2. Take the short walk to the Strela Alp mountain restaurant (0.5 km, 8 min, google maps)
  3. Enjoy drinks and food, or go hiking further up towards the Strelapass
  4. Take the Schatzalpbahn funicular railway back down
    • After 17:00, wave at camera, walk through turnstile, ticket is checked at valley station
    • Alternatively, hike down to Davos [2.3km, -300m, 0h36]
    • Short 5 min walk to the Morosani Schweizerhof

5. Hike Strelapass

The spectacular mountain hike! Use the lifts to rapidly access higher terrain!

The hike starts at the Parsennbahn Höhenweg middle station (2218 m). From the conference venue, take a bus to the Parsennbahn-Davos valley station, and then the funicular railway up to Höhenweg middle station.

You hike up to the Strela pass (2350 m) and enjoy the evening view on the Arosa valley and the mountain restaurant at the pass. You then hike down to the Schatzalp funicular (1862 m) and descent the remaining elevation with the funicular (optionally on foot for the motivated & fit).

Itinerary

The lift normally stops at 16:15, but we have arranged an extra private trip at 16:40 to give you more time to reach it (wrist band required).

  1. Morosani Schweizerhof to Parsennbahn Davos valley station
  2. Take the Parsennbahn funicular railway (here) up to Höhenweg middle station
    • Tickets: 21 CHF with Premium Card, buy at valley station, (alternative for Morosani hotel guests2), 18 CHF one-way no card?
    • Timetable: 16:00, 16:15; special ride* up for SiQEW participants at 16:40
    • (*) Special ride 16:40: get blue wrist band for exclusive SiQEW mountain railway trip at Morosani reception!
    • Travel time 5 min
    • Taking this lift after 16:00 means you cannot come back down with the same lift, it will be closed!
  3. Hike to Strelapass, and down to Schatzalp [6.8km, +170m, -510m, 2h00]
    • Start at Höhenweg, (first straight up, then across the slope)
    • Hike up to Strelapass, +170 m elevation
    • Hike down to Schatzalp, -510 m elevation
  4. Take the Schatzalpbahn funicular railway back down
    • Tickets: 10 CHF with Premium Card, not included with other lift tickets
    • Timetable: every 15 min3 (link)
    • After 17:00, wave at camera, walk through turnstile, and buy ticket at valley station
    • Alternatively, hike down to Davos [2.3km, -300m, 0h36], don’t be late though
    • Short 5 min walk to the Morosani Schweizerhof
Hike Büschalp (variation)

This easier hike begins at the same point as the Strelapass hike. It goes directly down to Davos. [5.8km, -675m, 1h31] (GPX file)

6. Hike Jackobshorn

The beautiful Sertig valley hike! Use the lifts to rapidly access higher terrain!

Conveniently start at the Jackobshorn gondola, a short 9 min walk from the Morosani Schweizerhof, and take the gondola all the way to the top station Jackobshorn (2590 m).

The hike down to the Sertig Dörfli village is only downhill and gives breathtaking views of the Sertig valley, a beautiful side valley in the region. From Sertig Dörfli, you take a bus back to the Morosani Schweizerhof.

  • Morosani Schweizerhof to Jackobshorn gondola (here)
    • Walk 0.6 km, travel time 9 min
  • Take the Jackobshorn gondola up to Jackobshorn summit (two sections)
    • Tickets: 21 CHF return with Premium Card, buy at the station, (alternative4 for Morosani hotel guests), (31 CHF one way no card)
    • Timetable: 16:00, 16:15, 16:30
    • Travel time 16 min
    • Taking this lift after 16:15 means you cannot come back down with the same lift, it will be closed!
  • Hike down to Sertig Dörfli [6.9km, +36m, -737m, 1h50]
  • Take a bus back to Morosani Schweizerhof
    • Tickets: public bus -> SBB app; private SiQEW bus -> free with your badge
    • Timetable: see table
    • +7min 0.45km from Davos Platz to Morosani Schweizerhof

7. Paragliding

Spectacular evening flight in the Davos valley!

You need your own equipment and pilot license! Enjoy a nice flight from the Jackobshorn summit (cable car access as for the Hike Jackobshorn). The take off site is easy and usually one can soar in the evening restitution. Conveniently land at the “Bolgen” landing area, a short 5-8 min walk from the Morosani Schweizerhof.
